It explains the limits of the information on this website and of the used automotive parts we sell, and it applies to all use of this website and all purchases from JDM City Virginia. Please read it together with our Terms of Service, Warranty Policy, Refund Policy, and Legal Notice. Nothing in this Disclaimer limits any consumer right that cannot be waived under the law of your state.

The content on this website, including product listings, descriptions, photos, compression results, mileage ranges, and compatibility notes, is provided for general information. We prepare it in good faith and work to keep it accurate, but it may contain errors or omissions, and we may change or remove it at any time without notice. We do not promise that this website will always be available or error-free.

Information on this website, and general guidance our team gives by phone, email, or in person, is not professional mechanical, engineering, or legal advice. 2. Product Condition & Photos
Unless a product listing clearly states otherwise, every product sold by JDM City Virginia is a used, pre-owned automotive part removed from a donor vehicle. Our JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) engines and transmissions are imported directly from Japan to our warehouse in Manassas, Virginia. We also sell KDM (Korean Domestic Market) engines for Hyundai and Kia and selected used JDM parts. We do not manufacture, remanufacture, or rebuild the parts we sell, and no used part can be guaranteed to last for a specific time or to perform like a new part.
a) Normal Wear Is Not a Defect
These signs of prior use are normal for used parts and are not defects:
- Surface Rust: Light rust or corrosion on external metal surfaces, brackets, and fittings.
- Oil Seepage: Minor oil seepage or residue around gaskets and seals.
- Aged Hoses & Seals: Hoses, seals, gaskets, and other rubber parts that show their age and may need replacing during installation.
- Cosmetic Wear: Dirt, grime, scuffs, and marks consistent with the part's age and use.
b) Photos & Descriptions
- Check the Listing: Review every photo, description, and condition note before you buy. Lighting and screen settings can change how a photo looks.
- Ask Before You Buy: Contact us for more photos or details, or to confirm whether a specific sensor, bracket, harness, or accessory is included. You can also inspect engines in person at our Manassas warehouse and showroom.
- Returns Must Match: Under our Refund Policy, a returned item must be in the same condition, fully assembled, and match the original pictures.
3. Compression Testing & Inspection
Our engines are compression tested and visually inspected before they are listed. Where a listing shows compression results, such as a PSI reading for each cylinder and a "PASSED" result, those results reflect our test at the time of testing, before the engine was listed.
- What Results Show: A result confirms the condition we measured at the time of testing. It is not a guarantee of future performance or service life.
- Readings Can Change: Readings can differ after transport, storage, or installation, and when taken with a different gauge, testing method, or engine temperature.
- Limits of Our Checks: A compression test and visual inspection cannot reveal every internal condition, especially one that appears only once the engine is installed and running. Unless a listing says otherwise, our checks do not include taking the engine or transmission apart.
- Other Parts: Compression testing applies to engines. For transmissions and other parts, rely on each listing's condition notes.
- Before You Install: Have your mechanic inspect the part before installation. If a test raises a concern, contact us before installing so we can review it with you.
4. Mileage Disclosure
Where a listing shows mileage, it is an approximate range (for example, 45,000–55,000 miles) based on the information provided at the time of import. We share it in good faith to help you compare products.
- Cannot Be Independently Verified: An engine or transmission removed from a vehicle has no odometer of its own, so we cannot verify its mileage the way an odometer disclosure statement does for a complete vehicle. Federal odometer rules (49 U.S.C. § 32701 et seq.) apply to motor vehicles, not to individual parts.
- Not a Guarantee: Mileage information is not a guarantee of actual mileage, remaining service life, or condition, and it does not show how the donor vehicle was maintained.
- No Mileage Shown: If a listing does not show mileage, we make no statement about it. Ask us for any information we have.
5. Warranty Disclaimer
This Disclaimer does not create or extend any warranty. Warranty coverage is described only in our Warranty Policy and on your sales receipt. The warranty period for your purchase is the one stated in our Warranty Policy, unless your sales receipt specifies otherwise. If you have a question about coverage for a specific product, ask us before you buy.
Products that carry our limited warranty are covered only as described in our Warranty Policy, and any implied warranties on those products are limited to the duration stated there. All other products are sold "as-is," and all implied warranties, including the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are disclaimed to the extent permitted by law under the Uniform Commercial Code as adopted in Virginia (Va. Code § 8.2-316).
a) Products Sold As-Is or Without Warranty
- Rotary Engines (Mazda RX-7 13BT / 13BTT / 20B): Sold with no warranty.
- ECUs, Wiring & Electronics: Sold as-is.
- Accessories: Final sale and sold as-is.
- Body Parts, Interior Parts, Seats, Wheels & Suspension: Sold as-is.
- All Other Products: Any product not covered by our Warranty Policy or your sales receipt is sold as-is.
b) Conditions of Coverage
- Installation: Installation by a certified mechanic, with the required replacement parts listed in our Warranty Policy, is a condition of coverage.
- Start Date: For out-of-state and freight purchases, the warranty period begins on the delivery date.
- Return Freight: The customer pays return freight, as stated in our Warranty Policy.
6. Fitment & Compatibility
JDM and KDM parts come from vehicles built for the Japanese and Korean markets. They often share platforms with US-market models but can differ in important details, and listing compatibility information is general guidance only. As stated in our Warranty Policy, the buyer is responsible for fitment. Before you order, check:
- Engine & Transmission Codes: Match the code to your vehicle's factory specifications, not just the make, model, and year.
- Drive & Transmission Type: Confirm the drive type (2WD, 4WD, or AWD) and the transmission type (automatic or manual).
- Wiring & ECU: Check sensor connectors, wiring harnesses, and ECU compatibility. An imported engine may need ECU reprogramming or a compatible ECU.
- Mounts & Accessories: Check engine and transmission mounts, brackets, and accessory drives such as the power steering pump and A/C compressor.
Our team can help check VIN compatibility and answer fitment questions before you buy. This help is a courtesy based on the information available to us. It is not a guarantee of fitment, and final responsibility remains with the buyer. Orders for the wrong part are handled under our Refund Policy and Cancellation Policy, and the restocking fees and freight charges stated in the Refund Policy may apply.
7. Installation & Safety
Installation is the buyer's responsibility. We do not control how, where, or by whom a part is installed, and we are not responsible for installation work or its results.
- Certified Mechanic Required: Under our Warranty Policy, engines and transmissions must be installed by a certified mechanic, with the required replacement parts, for warranty coverage to apply.
- Inspect on Arrival: Inspect the part as soon as you receive it and before installation. Report shipping damage promptly, as explained in our Shipping Policy.
- Heavy Items: Engines and transmissions are heavy. Use proper lifting equipment and protective gear. For local pickup, we load the part onto your vehicle or trailer, so make sure it is rated for the weight and the part is secured before you leave.
- Fluids: Used parts may still contain oil, coolant, or transmission fluid. Dispose of fluids according to federal, state, and local rules.
To the extent permitted by law, JDM City Virginia is not responsible for injury, loss, or damage caused by improper handling, storage, or installation of a part.
8. Emissions & Legal Use
JDM and KDM engines were built to Japanese and Korean emissions standards, which differ from US requirements. Before you buy, you are responsible for checking the state and local emissions and inspection rules where your vehicle is registered. Smog and emissions compliance is not the responsibility of JDM City Virginia, and we make no claim that a part is emissions-compliant or legal for road use unless its listing expressly says so.
- Federal Rules: Federal law, including the Clean Air Act (42 U.S.C. § 7401 et seq.), restricts changes that affect a road vehicle's emissions controls.
- Virginia: Vehicles registered in the Northern Virginia emissions inspection area (the counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, and Stafford, and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas, and Manassas Park) must pass an emissions inspection, and Virginia requires an annual safety inspection.
- California: California Air Resources Board (CARB) rules strictly limit engine changes in on-road vehicles. Many JDM engine swaps are not legal in California without a CARB Executive Order or Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) referee approval.
- Other States: Many states and local areas have their own emissions and inspection programs. Check the current rules with your state agency.
- Off-Road & Competition Use: Where a listing says a part is for off-road or competition use only, it is not intended for use on public roads.
To the extent permitted by law, JDM City Virginia is not responsible for failed inspections, fines, registration problems, or the cost of bringing a vehicle into compliance.
9. Pricing, Availability & Errors
- Prices: Prices are in US dollars and are subject to change without notice. See our Payment Policy and Shipping Policy for payment and shipping terms.
- Availability: Used parts are often available in limited quantities, and an item may sell before a listing is updated.
- Errors: Prices, descriptions, photos, compression results, mileage ranges, or availability may occasionally contain errors. We may correct errors and update information at any time, including after you place an order.
- Affected Orders: If an error affects your order, or an item is no longer available, we may cancel the affected order. We will contact you and refund the full amount you paid for what we cancel.
- Order Limits: As stated in our Terms of Service, we reserve the right to refuse any order and to limit or cancel quantities purchased per person, per household, or per order.
10. Trademarks & OEM Non-Affiliation
JDM City Virginia is an independent seller of used automotive parts. We are not a franchise, subsidiary, or authorized dealer of any vehicle manufacturer, engine brand, or original equipment manufacturer (OEM). Brand names, model names, and engine codes on this website, including Acura, Honda, Infiniti, Lexus, Mazda, Nissan, Scion, Subaru, Toyota, Hyundai, and Kia, are trademarks of their respective owners. We use them only to identify compatible vehicles and the donor vehicles parts came from. Their use does not mean any manufacturer is affiliated with, sponsors, or endorses JDM City Virginia.
Where a listing calls a part "OEM" or "genuine," it means the part was originally made by or for the vehicle manufacturer. It is sold used by an independent business, not through a dealer network, and is not covered by any manufacturer warranty.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the total liability of JDM City Virginia for any claim arising from the purchase, delivery, installation, or use of any product shall not exceed the purchase price you paid for that product. This limit applies whatever the legal theory of the claim, including contract, tort, strict liability, warranty, or negligence.
JDM City Virginia is not liable for any consequential, incidental, indirect, special, or punitive damages, even if we were advised that such damages were possible. The following costs are not covered or reimbursable:
- Labor Costs: Shop labor, diagnostic fees, and installation or removal costs.
- Towing & Rental: Towing fees, rental vehicle costs, and other transportation expenses while a vehicle is out of service.
- Lost Income: Lost wages, lost profits, or other income lost because of vehicle downtime.
- Secondary Damage: Damage to other vehicle components, systems, or fluids after a part is installed.
Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so these limits apply to you only to the extent permitted by law. This section matches Section 7 of our Legal Notice.
12. State Disclosures & Governing Law
a) Your Statutory Rights
The Virginia Consumer Protection Act (Va. Code § 59.1-196 et seq.) prohibits deceptive practices in consumer transactions, and we aim to describe every product accurately and in good faith. Where the law of your state gives you rights that cannot be waived, those rights apply in full. Virginia consumers can find more information from the Virginia Office of the Attorney General, Consumer Protection Section.
b) Limits on "As-Is" Sales
Some jurisdictions, including Maryland (Md. Code, Com. Law § 2-316.1), Massachusetts, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia, restrict "as-is" sales of consumer goods. For consumers there, our "as-is" terms and implied warranty disclaimers apply only to the extent those laws allow. Some states also do not allow limits on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the limit in Section 5 may not apply to you. You may have other rights that vary from state to state.
c) California Proposition 65

d) Governing Law & Changes
This Disclaimer and all transactions with JDM City Virginia are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes that cannot be resolved directly with our team shall be brought in the state courts serving Prince William County and the City of Manassas, Virginia, or in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Alexandria Division, as set out in our Legal Notice. If any part of this Disclaimer is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
We may update this Disclaimer at any time. The "Last Updated" date at the top shows the latest version, and continued use of this website after changes are posted means you accept them.
