JDM City Virginia Accessibility Statement & Commitment
Last Updated: October 1, 2026
JDM City Virginia LLC ("JDM City Virginia," "we," "us," or "our") wants everyone to be able to find, research, and buy used JDM and KDM engines, transmissions, and parts on this website. That includes people who are blind or have low vision, people who are deaf or hard of hearing, and people with motor, cognitive, or speech disabilities. This Accessibility Statement explains the standard we aim for, the practices we follow, the limitations we know about, and how to get help or report a problem.
Need help right now? Call (703) 479-7400 (Mon–Fri: 9am–5pm | Sat: 9am–3pm, Eastern Time) or email jdmcityvirginia@gmail.com with the subject line "Accessibility Help." Our team can describe a part, read you the compression results and mileage range from a product page, check the status of an order, and help you complete a purchase.
1. Our Commitment
Our online store runs on Shopify. We are working to make this website easier to use for everyone, including people who use assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control software, switch devices, or a keyboard instead of a mouse.
Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time project. Our inventory of used engines, transmissions, and parts changes often, so we aim to review this website as we update it, fix barriers as soon as we can after we learn about them, and offer help by phone and email whenever something on this website does not work for you.
2. Standards We Follow
We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the most widely recognized benchmark for website accessibility. We also keep the newer WCAG 2.2 guidelines in mind as we make changes.
This is a goal we are working toward. We have not yet completed a formal accessibility audit of this website, and we do not claim that every page currently conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
a) The Four Principles of WCAG
WCAG is built on four principles, often remembered as "POUR":
- Perceivable: Information is presented in ways you can perceive, for example text alternatives for images and text that can be resized.
- Operable: Links, buttons, menus, and forms can be used with a keyboard, switch, or other input device, without time pressure or keyboard traps.
- Understandable: Text is clear, pages behave in predictable ways, and error messages explain how to fix a problem.
- Robust: Content is built so that browsers and assistive technologies, including screen readers and voice control, can interpret it reliably.
3. What We Do to Support Accessibility
The practices below describe how we work and what we are working toward. They are goals, not a guarantee that every page already meets them.
- Text Alternatives for Product Photos: We aim to add descriptive alternative text to product photos and other informative images, naming the part and the view shown.
- Key Details in Text: We aim to give prices, approximate mileage ranges, and compression test results as real text on the product page, not only inside photos, so screen readers can read them.
- Readable Text & Contrast: We aim for text and link colors that meet WCAG AA contrast ratios (at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text), text that can be enlarged with browser zoom, and meaning that never depends on color alone.
- Keyboard Access: We work toward every link, button, menu, and form being usable with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator so you can see where you are on the page.
- Clear Headings & Structure: We aim to use headings in a logical order, as on this page, so screen reader users can understand each page and move through it quickly.
- Descriptive Links: We aim to write link text that says where the link goes, and to make phone numbers and email addresses real links you can select directly.
- Plain Language: We try to write product descriptions and policies in plain, short sentences and to explain technical terms such as JDM, KDM, and compression testing.
- Responsive Layout: We aim for pages that adapt to phones, tablets, and desktop screens and stay readable when you zoom in.
- Review When We Update the Site: We aim to check new pages, product listings, and theme changes for accessibility when we publish them, and to fix issues that customers report.
4. Known Limitations
We want to be honest about where this website may fall short today. These are the limitations we know about or expect. We will update this list as we find and fix issues.
- Product Photos & Compression Test Images: Some product photos, including images of compression test results, may not yet have full text descriptions. Ask us and we will give you the details in text, such as the compression reading for each cylinder, the approximate mileage range, and the components included with the part.
- Older Product Listings: Some older listings may be missing a full written description. Contact us and we will describe the part, its condition, and what is included.
- Checkout & Payment Windows: Shopify checkout and payment windows such as Shop Pay, Apple Pay, and PayPal (where shown at checkout) are provided and controlled by those companies, and we cannot change how they work. If you have trouble, contact us and we will help you complete your order.
- Menus, Filters & Pop-Ups: We have not yet completed a full accessibility review of our store theme. Some menus, product filters, or pop-up windows may not work fully with a keyboard or screen reader. If one gets in your way, contact us and we will find the part for you.
- Embedded Content: Embedded videos or maps, if any, may lack captions, text descriptions, or full keyboard support. Our address is always available as text on this page, and if you find a video without captions, tell us and we will provide the information another way.
If you run into a barrier that is not listed here, please report it (see Section 10). We will either fix it or give you the information or service in another accessible way.
5. Assistive Technology & Browsers
We aim for this website to work with current versions of major web browsers and the assistive technology people commonly use with them. In plain terms:
- Browsers: We aim to support current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on computers, phones, and tablets. Older or outdated browsers may not display every page correctly.
- Screen Readers: We aim for this website to work with current versions of widely used screen readers, such as JAWS and NVDA on Windows, VoiceOver on Mac, iPhone, and iPad, and TalkBack on Android. We have not yet formally tested this website with each of them.
- Keyboard & Switch Users: We aim for links, buttons, and form fields to be reachable in a logical order using the Tab key, without trapping your focus.
- Voice Control: We aim to give buttons and links visible text labels so voice control tools can select them by name.
- Zoom & Magnifiers: You can enlarge text with your browser's zoom setting or a screen magnifier. We aim for pages to remain usable at high zoom levels.
6. Other Ways to Shop & Get Help
If any part of this website is hard for you to use, we will work with you to provide the same information and service another way.
a) By Phone
Call (703) 479-7400 during business hours (Mon–Fri: 9am–5pm | Sat: 9am–3pm, Eastern Time). We can describe parts, read you product details, help you check fitment details such as the engine code and VIN compatibility, confirm shipping details, and help you place your order. Final responsibility for fitment remains with the buyer, as stated in our Warranty Policy.
b) By Email
Email jdmcityvirginia@gmail.com for product details, compression results, shipping information, order status, or any other information on this website. We aim to respond within 1–2 business days.
c) Information in Text Form
- Product Details: We can email you the details of any listing as plain text, including the compression reading for each cylinder, the approximate mileage range, and the components included.
- Policies: We can email any of our policies to you as plain text, or read them to you over the phone.
- Order Status: Tracking details are sent by email. If a carrier's tracking page is hard to use, contact us with your order number and we will check the status for you.
d) Visiting Our Warehouse in Manassas
Customers can inspect engines in person and arrange local pickup at our warehouse at 9026 Euclid Ave Unit E, Manassas, VA 20110. If you plan to visit, please call us ahead of time so we can be ready to help you, for example by having the part ready to view and planning how it will be loaded onto your vehicle or trailer. Tell us what would make your visit easier, and we will do our best to help.
7. Third-Party Content
Some parts of this website are provided by other companies. We choose providers with care, but we do not control their code or design. Where third-party content is hard to use, we will help you reach the same result another way.
- Shopify: Our online store, cart, and checkout are built on Shopify Inc.'s platform. Shopify designs and maintains its checkout, and we cannot change how it works. If you run into a barrier in checkout, tell us. We will help you complete your order and can report the issue to Shopify.
- Payment Providers: Shop Pay, Apple Pay, and PayPal (where shown at checkout) open their own screens or windows, which follow each provider's own accessibility practices. You can choose another payment method shown at checkout, or contact us for help.
- Cookie Banner: In some regions, Shopify may display a cookie banner. If the banner is hard to use, contact us and we will help with your privacy choices. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and Shopify treats a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. See our Cookie Policy and Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page.
- Embedded Content & Outside Links: Any embedded videos or maps, and the outside websites we link to (such as official government resources), are controlled by their owners. This Accessibility Statement does not cover third-party websites.
8. Accessibility Laws & Your Rights
a) Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act prohibits disability discrimination by businesses that are open to the public. The U.S. Department of Justice has stated that this applies to the goods and services businesses offer online. Federal law does not set a specific technical standard for the websites of private businesses. WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the widely recognized benchmark, and it is the standard we aim for.
In 2024, the Department of Justice adopted WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the required technical standard for the websites and mobile apps of state and local governments under Title II of the ADA. That rule does not apply to private businesses such as JDM City Virginia, but we use the same standard as our goal. You can learn more at ADA.gov.
b) Virginia Law
- Virginia Human Rights Act (Va. Code § 2.2-3900 et seq.): Prohibits discrimination because of disability, among other protected characteristics, including in places of public accommodation.
- Virginians with Disabilities Act (Va. Code § 51.5-1 et seq.): Sets Virginia's policy that people with disabilities should be able to take part fully and equally in the social and economic life of the Commonwealth, and protects their right to equal use of public places and accommodations.
As a Virginia business based in Manassas, we are committed to providing equal access to our products and services for every customer.
c) Other States
Many other states have their own disability civil rights laws. Wherever you live, we will work with you to provide equal access. Nothing in this statement limits any rights you have under federal, Virginia, or other applicable law.
d) Your Right to File a Complaint
You have the right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division through ADA.gov, or with the Office of Civil Rights of the Virginia Office of the Attorney General. We encourage you to contact us first so we can fix the problem quickly.
9. How We Handle Accessibility Reports
Here is what happens after you report a problem by email or phone:
- We Acknowledge Your Report: We aim to confirm that we received it within 1–2 business days.
- We Review the Problem: We try to reproduce the barrier using the page, device, and assistive technology you describe, and decide how to fix it.
- We Help You Right Away: Where possible, we immediately give you the information you need or help you complete your task another way, such as by phone or email, so you do not have to wait for a fix.
- We Fix It: We work to correct the problem on this website, or report it to the provider if it is in third-party content, and we update the Known Limitations in this statement where needed.
- We Follow Up: We let you know what we did and, if you would like, when the fix is live.
10. Report an Accessibility Issue
If you have trouble using any part of this website, please tell us. Email jdmcityvirginia@gmail.com with the subject line "Accessibility Issue." To help us fix the problem quickly, please include:
- Page Link: The web address (URL) of the page, or the name of the product or page.
- What You Were Trying to Do: For example, find an engine for your vehicle, read compression results, or complete checkout.
- The Problem: What happened, and what would help you.
- Your Setup: Your browser and device, and any assistive technology you use, such as a screen reader, screen magnifier, or voice control software.
- How to Reach You: Your name and the best way to contact you.
You can also call us at (703) 479-7400 during business hours and describe the problem to our team. We use the details you send to respond to your report and fix the problem, and we handle them as described in our Privacy Policy.
11. Updates to This Statement
This Accessibility Statement describes our goals and current practices. Because this website changes often, we cannot promise that every page meets WCAG 2.1 Level AA at all times, but accessibility is an active priority and we respond to every report. This statement is not a contract and does not create additional legal obligations.
We will update this statement as we change this website and fix known issues. The "Last Updated" date at the top shows when it was last revised.
